Nezha Regragui: My Son, Saad Lamjarred, Was Victim of a ‘Setup’

Casablanca – In an interview with Moroccan publication Le360, Nezha Regragui, the famous Moroccan actress and mother of singer Saad Lamjarred, who was recently arrested on charges of sexual assault, defends her son’s innocence.

When asked if she has had any news from him, Regragui said that she hadn’t. “I swear to you that I have no news from him,” she told Le360.

“Everything was going well for him and for his concert in Paris [at the Palais des Congrès],” she added. Lamjarred was scheduled to perform for a sold out crowed at the famous venue, a dream come true for any musician. “The show was very important for him and for his career,” she continued.

Regragui claims her son has been set up, and that he is “paying the price for his success and fame.” She is devoted to helping him out of this situation, saying, “I will fight for him. God is big, and there are important lawyers who will defend him.”

Moroccan Singer Saad Lamjarred Arrested in Paris for ‘Sexual Assault’

Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred has allegedly been arrested in Paris for “sexual assault.”

According to Moroccan news outlet Le360, the Moroccan star, who was staying Marriott Champs Elysées, was reportedly arrested by the police of the 17th arrondissement of Paris, on Wednesday 26 October. He was placed in custody before being brought before the competent prosecutor on Friday morning.

The Moroccan singer was scheduled to perform on Saturday October 29 at Paris’ Palais des Congrés.

“We are following with great interest this issue and contacts have been made between the authorities of both countries to clarify this matter, “Minister of Culture, Mohamed Amine Sbihi was quoted by Le360 as saying.

Saad Lamjarred is facing a lawsuit in the United States for another case of sexual assault.

A New York woman told the New York Post in May that she was allegedly sexually assaulted and beaten in a Brooklyn apartment by Lamjarred, in 2010.

Rifat Harb, the alleged victim’s attorney claims that the Moroccan singer was “arrested and indicted, and after posting bail, immediately fled the country, and has not returned since.”

In recent years, Saad Lamjarred has become a household name both in Morocco and the whole Middle East. The Moroccan singer broke many YouTube records with his sensational songs.

In the spring of 2015, his song entitled ‘Lamaalem’ (The Boss) reached 100,000,000 views on video sharing website YouTube within three months after the video clip was released. The song has reached over 400,000,000 on YouTube, a new record for an Arab singer.

The Moroccan singer’s captivating song has earned him a Guinness World Record achievement.
